A Day in the Life

7/7/09  The pank’s all gone!

Today Dutch was pushing some limits, and kept coming out of his room when he was supposed to be napping. I clearly warned him that if he came out, he’d get a spank.  We probably went through this a dozen times–sneak out, spank him, sneak out, spank him…over and over.  Finally when it was 4pm I went into his room and told him he could be all done.  He got this huge grin on his face and started running around dancing, “No pank! No pank!  The pank’s all gone! The pank’s all gone!”  We were both happy for no more spanks. :)

Prayers tonight:  “Dada God. Kant Noo for Mack Trucks. Kant Noo for Hot Cocoa. Kant Noo for Dada. Kant Noo for Mama. Kant Noo new toy.”  Then he said “I love you, Dada God.”  Then I asked him if he wanted to ask God for anything.  He said, “Dada God, please pizza.”  Hey, that’s a good request!

Each night Dutch says his prayers:  “Dada God, Kant Noo.” Then he lists all of his “thank you’s”:  Kant noo for Mack Trucks. Kant noo for Dump Trucks. Kant noo for chuna (sandwiches). Kant noo for my blank (blanket). Kant noo for Bob blank (bob the builder blanket). Kant noo for wa-wa blank (his towel). Kant noo for the walk (our stroller)…and it goes on and on and on and on.  Thank you God for a thankful son!
